Ryan Pressley

Ok well lets get started. My name is Ryan T. Pressley, you’ll never guess what the middle initial stands for, done guessing? It’s Traynham. Yeah, I know, not the coolest but it was my grandma’s maiden name and I am proud of it. I guess I should tell you about myself now. I am from North Augusta, South Carolina and attended North Augusta High. I am an upcoming sophmore, but I am also twenty two years old, we’ll get to that later, and my major is elementary education. I also work full-time for Ann Taylor Auto Group doing wash and detail. I love being active and my passion is sports. I will watch any sport if it is on and I will play anything that I can figure out. I have ADHD, another story for later, but you can guess where that’s heading. I have an older sister and a younger brother. I am a HUGE Gamecock fan and I’m not ashamed. Since last semester I have become a ASU Jag fan and will be for the rest of my life!

Earlier I told you I was a 22 year old upcoming sophomore. I know the age and the class don’t match up. Before I began attending ASU last spring I had previously attended both, Aiken Tech and USCAiken. My college career has been a history of consistent irresponsibility. I didn’t go to class and failed to get projects done. But last semester a large part of the problem was solved. I was diagnosed with ADHD. Ever since I started taking medication and figureing out how to cope more completely with this disability things have been looking up. So far this semester, I know it’s early but, I have made nothing lower than a “B” on any assignment. By the way don’t forget that is with a full-time school schedule and a full-time work. (Yeah its possible.) I loving all my professors and even, the dreaded class, Humanities is fun and eye opening. I am very lucky and happy to have a fresh start at a great college. My family is a huge part of my fresh start. With an older sister who worked her way through college with two kids, now three, and a dad who graduated from USC Columbia with a bachelors in political science, I have an amazing support system to look to for advice. My little brother is seven years younger than I am and has dyslexia and ADHD. Up until last semester I didn’t understand his attitude or problems but now we get along great. My family is quite dysfunctional but our differences make us even closer because it teaches us all how to coexist with a variety of differences. I also have an amazing girlfriend who keeps me on track and wants me to succeed, its kind of mandatory because she is pre-med.

A rocky road, a loving family and girlfriend, and a full-time non-stop life. With all the rough patches everything is getting better slowy but surely, kind of like Wrightsboro Road to 13th Street. That’s my life in short, well I guess most of it at least.
