Passing the Hours
Recently, I have made it a point to begin spending time on campus. I admit that in the past I have been one of those people who complain about the lack of activities at ASU, but I decided to change that mentality and change my habits.
To begin with, I started staying on campus to study, as opposed to driving home and sitting in my room. Although it seems minor, I already feel a lot more connected to my student body. By sitting around in Allgood Hall, to reading in the library, I have found that I interact more with my friends, meet new friends, and just generally enjoy our campus more.
Not only can I be seen spending more study time on campus, but I have also made an effort to attend more extra-curricular activities which have all been a blast. Last night I attended the discussion hosted by flair about african culture and french culture. It was a great opportunity to hear different voices from the community talk about an interesting topic, and also a great chance to meet new people and take part in a diverse dialogue.
So this is me advocating that more students come out and just spend time on campus. You never know who you will meet or what might be going on.
