Passing the Hours

Recently, I have made it a point to begin spending time on campus. I admit that in the past I have been one of those people who complain about the lack of activities at ASU, but I decided to change that mentality and change my habits.

To begin with, I started staying on campus to study, as opposed to driving home and sitting in my room. Although it seems minor, I already feel a lot more connected to my student body. By sitting around in Allgood Hall, to reading in the library, I have found that I interact more with my friends, meet new friends, and just generally enjoy our campus more.

Not only can I be seen spending more study time on campus, but I have also made an effort to attend more extra-curricular activities which have all been a blast. Last night I attended the discussion hosted by flair about african culture and french culture. It was a great opportunity to hear different voices from the community talk about an interesting topic, and also a great chance to meet new people and take part in a diverse dialogue.

So this is me advocating that more students come out and just spend time on campus. You never know who you will meet or what might be going on.

Luke - My name is Luke. I study political science with the hopes of one day becoming a foreign service officer or something in the field of diplomacy. That being said, I love to travel. I have been to several different countries including Ethiopia, Honduras, and most recently I spent last semester living in working in Peru. Language is passion of mine and I love meeting new people and observing foreign culture. I plan to spend this summer in France working on an organic vineyard with a few students from ASU. But even greater than my love for travel and language is my love for music. I enjoy spending my time writing, playing, and performing music anywhere I can. It is more than just a hobby. It is my passion. Other notable things about me include my love for literature, tennis, and history. All of these things sum me up.
