Oklahoma Marathon

So last night (Friday), I saw the play Oklahoma.
First Impression.. “This is nice”..
The singing was great. The acting was awesome.
Lighting, perfect.

(An hour later.. )
I was really into the performance.. waiting for it to wrap up
so  I could leave..

(Another 20 minutes passes by.)
Then I ask someone how long it was.
They tell me..
I say, “Okay, thank you.” Politely

Then I process what they just told me.

THREE HOURS!! They said the play was 3 hours long!
WOW… I got up and left 20 minutes later.

Don’t get me wrong, I love theatre. But I didn’t love it that much.
Not last night at least. That play was longer than Titanic.
There is only so much singing I can take before I fall asleep.

But nonetheless, the orchestra was beautiful and the actors were all great.
But; Note to all: Keep it short and sweet, or you’ll lose practically everyone.
I heard that most of the audience disappeared before intermission anyway.
It was probably a little after 10 pm.. So I wonder why?

Once the curtains closed before the first act was over and everyone thought it was intermission, people bolted! And I’m willing to bet most of those people were students who had to attend for a class and had no idea how long it was. I helped build the set and I didn’t realize how long it was! My butt was numb by the end, to say the least. But great show though.
