Forrest JonesI was born on February 4, 1989 in Columbus, OH. I am the only child of Paulette Jones and Forrest Hampton, where I got my name. Currently, I attend church at The United House of Prayer for All People. I am also blessed with a big family that I love dearly. On my mother’s side of the family, my grandmother’s name is Rena Jones. I have three aunts: Vera Collins, Annette Jones and Doris Regina Jones. I have two uncles: John Paul Jones and Abe Mathew Jones. On my father’s side of the family, I have six aunts and three uncles.

From 1993 to 1999 I lived in Columbia County where I attended North Columbia Elementary School until 5th grade. My family moved to Augusta in October of 1999. There, I attended Copeland Elementary School. I was on A/B honor roll nearly every six weeks. I also received perfect attendance awards. I attended Langford Middle School where I remained on honor roll. I was chosen character of the month every year in middle school. At the end of 8th grade, I was very excited because I knew I was going to another level.

I attended the Academy of Richmond County, making honor roll mostly every six weeks. There I participated in the Technology Student Association, a club that allows you to work and take field trips to enjoyable and informative conferences. I joined Upward Bound during my 10th grade year. That is a program to help you succeed in high school and to prepare you for college life. When I joined Upward Bound, it was a whole new experience for me, helping me get more focused. Kappa Alpha Phi was the fraternity that I participated in during my 11th grade year.

When I finished high school, I was glad to further my career by going to college at Augusta State University. I am now a freshman at ASU, majoring in Computer Science. I want to be a computer engineer, computer technician, and later a computer programmer. I like working with computers and finding out new things about them. I am also learning the trade of an electrician. That way I can have another skill in case working with computers doesn’t pan out.

As I look back over my life, I feel that I have worked hard to get where I am today. I worked hard through elementary, middle and high school, showing my parents that I can succeed. My family is proud that I am doing well in school and working very hard. One day, I will reach my goal having a career in computer science, and then advance to other areas of technology.
