Weekends and Lab Practicals from Hell
Hey people. First two tests are over. Toughest thing this semester for sure is going to be Microbiology. I feel like I’m in boot camp in there. Probably the biggest challenge for me (as always) is going to be lab practicals. Allow me to expound.
Take a moment to relax and watch this video (PS – just fast forward through the intro): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9dofQsMujM
Now, take away the watermelons and replace them with microscopes and cat carcasses with a ringer from hell going off every thirty seconds and that’s pretty much how I feel during a lab practical. I remember my first practical for introductory biology several semesters ago. I felt like a one-legged chicken among an urban ocean of KFC’s. Talk about high pressure.
All rants aside, though, I have nothing but good things to say about the Biology professors I’ve had here. Top quality. It’s VERY demanding, but rewarding, despite the Lion’s Dens (aka, the labs) on the second floor. Just know your stuff and you’ll survive. Enjoy your weekend. Cheers.
