Count your blessings on parking spaces…..
While I will agree with the general sentiment from students that parking is indeed a problem at ASU, I don’t feel that I have a place to get upset about it. Coming from Georgia Southern, not only did we pay well over $100 for a decal with no guarantee of a parking space when we needed one, if the lot you wanted filled up, you were lucky enough to get to park across campus and hike. Needless to say I was dreading buying a decal until I learned that it would only be $20. I can’t get that upset over parking issues when I only had to pay $20 for the decal as opposed to $100+ with the same parking frustrations.
I was also shocked that the entire University Hall parking lot wasn’t faculty as it was directly next to the building. For those of you that attended GSU or have visited, just because you get the parking lot next to your building doesn’t mean it’s actually close to the building. It’s a 5-6 minute walk from the back of the education lot at GSU to the actual building. The distance isn’t that great unless you’re already late or it’s raining.
The problems have clearly been emphasized with all the construction. With parking being an issue on almost all campuses, I’d rather deal with the frustration having only paid $20 for the decal as opposed to $150 with the same frustrations. However, clearly with rising student enrollment on top of being more of a commuter school, ASU will need to create some sort of long term parking plan (which I suspect is in the works).
Happy Parking!
