The Math Lab is a great place to receive quality math help from students who are doing great in math. The tutors who help the students who are being helped are their own peers, and they range from the age of 19 to about 27. The tutors having a willing attitude to help students when they are having a hard time or just want different questions asked. The math lab is a great place to get peer help instead of going to the professor all the time because a lot of times the professor is not going to be in the office all the time. An emergency may come up and the professor is not always available to help students.  When u need help at anytime, the Math Lab is the place to get great help.

One great quality the tutors in the Math Lab possess is patience. Patience is important when helping other people. It requires a lot of sacrificing, meekness, humbleness, and time. When I go into the math lab, I know how to do my work and what to do. I have a hard time comprehending and clarifying the different concepts. Knowing the concept makes working the problems easier. When I come out of the Math Lab, I am happy and proud of myself because I know how to do better with the help of other people.

A lot of people do not want to receive extra help or try to make an effort to go because of students not knowing about the Math Lab. It is a beneficial place because it is free and tutors and other people come in there can assist students with math problems. Not only students who are struggling come in there, but smart people come in there because they make mistakes also. While some of the smart people are in there, they can give students a helping hand. In addition, tutors and other peers who come in the Math Lab can uplift each other and make each other feel good about difficult math. The Math Lab is a wonderful experience which I believe that everyone should encounter if they are struggling or not struggling in math.

A class I have liked so far was Personal Finance. Personal Finance is a class that is based on real world situations about how to purchase different things. Some of the things I learned about were how to finance cars, homes, and how to stay out of debt. I enjoyed learning different objectives that is going to apply to students everyday college lives. Personal finance is a tool I believe everyone should learn and comprehend because there is a lot of people walking around with bad credit and many debt situations. Credit is the number one aspect people look at when determining what people can get.

An aspect that I have enjoyed the most about personal finance is learning about how to establish credit. Establishing credit is important for college students because having some credit can get students cars, student loans, or even different accounts in their name. Different ways students can establish credit is having something in their name such as a car, credit card, or even an account in their name. The key thing is keeping the account in good standing by paying on time. A lot of people get confused by paying on time, but it has to be done to establish and keep good credit. I am thankful that I have the mind to pay my bills on time every month and have good credit.

Another thing I have enjoyed in personal finance class I have taken is the concept of negotiate. Negotiating is another important concept for college students. College students already pay a lot in school tuition and school fees, therefore, we don’t need to pay out extra money than we don’t have to. Our professor taught us when we go to buy something, it can be anything, try to negotiate down to the lowest price because the worst they can say is no. Students and adults will be surprised how much they can save buy using the technique. Personal finance is a tool which I have benefited from and I’m going to apply the class in every way possible because it will help me succeed.

Working on Campus is very beneficial. Working on campus gives me the opportunity to balance my school work and time while I am on campus working. The jobs on campus will work closely with students schedules and is very understanding about different situations and problems that may occur unexpectedly. The workers are very nice, soon you will become a family with them. Some of the jobs that are on campus include, public relations, financial aid office, a lot of the departments and activity boards on campus. There are a lot of other special benefits for working on campus.

I work for Public Relations and Publications. I enjoy working with the Public Relations department because it gives me the opportunity to learn how other people work and learn about the media of Augusta State University. I help the office where ever is needed and perform different daily tasks. My job is easy and I do what ever is asked and sometimes go beyond what is asked. Working for Public Relations help builds my resume and allow me to have work experience. Work experience is very important because it will help me to get a job for future references.

Another reason why I enjoy my job is because of how nice my co-workers and supervisors are. I work with about 7 or 8 people in the office. Each one of them is very caring and will help me if I need help with something other than work related. My supervisors work around my schedule for other related school activities and other personal situations that occur. Public relations along with the other departments that have jobs for work study students are very understanding and want all students to succeed. Working on campus is a wonderful experience, and I believe it is the best option for students who want to do really well in college.

Working with computers is a  unique experience. I have always had the desire to learn more about computer, troubleshoot computers, and work with the hardware of computers. I like typing on computers, showing people how to work on computers such as computer applications, and finding out new ways of doing different things. The computer field is a growing industry and people are always needed to program, troubleshoot, and stay updated on computers. Currently, I am going to school to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science focusing more on the hardware part, and then furthering my education in computers. Computers is a device that everyone should like and be able to work with.

My first experience of closely working on computers is my senior year in high school. I had the opportunity to troubleshoot all kinds of computer problems and work closely with the hardware of the computer. The class I took was called the Computer Repair Class. It exposed me to all of the components of the motherboard such as the C-Mos battery, hard drive, memory chip, fan, expansion slots, and much more. I got the chance to replace bad computer components and fix different people computers. The class is basically based on trial and error and becoming exposed to different real-world situations that happen to people computers daily.

Based on my Computer Repair class I have had in high school, I have learned and had fun with repairing people computers. People responses to the issues they have is a challenge to me to find out, based on the knowledge that I already have, is a wonderful experience I like to do. In addition, I can see myself working with a big company making a lot of money because the computer field makes a lot of money, starting at forty thousand dollars a year starting off. My goal is to help people and benefit somebody and not charge a lot of money to repair, so I want to start a computer business. Most businesses charge about one hundred and fifty dollars a hour. I want to work with people and be affordable so everyone will be pleased.

An exciting experience I have encountered was going to the Caribbean Island for a Cruise for Credit trip. Study Abroad is a program that allows you to take different trips to various places in the world for credit hours towards student degrees. I had the opportunity to travel to the Caribbean Island to Mexico, Cayman Islands, and Key West Florida. They are some wonderful places to visit for the first time. I left December 15-22, 2007, a week before Christmas. For a person to have never gone on a cruise before, I was a very happy person to experience something I have never experienced before.

The class that I took on the Cruise for Credit was a wellness (one hour credit) I have to have to graduate. The is great because I don’t have to take wellness in the classroom, instead, I can take the class on a cruise ship. A lot of other people and I took the same class and performed various activities. Some of the activities that we performed on the ship includes: volleyball, juggling, catching with the ball, and a lot of fun wellness activities. Our instructor was teaching the class how to play each game. Also, the class had to take a short test over the rules of the games we played, but most of the rules were common sense and easy to recognize on the test.

The final thing I liked about the cruise is sight seeing. Going to the different places to see how the culture, and the people react to visitors from another country is amazing. Mexico has a fast paste country and the people fall in love with you. When Mexicans want to make some fast money, they will aggravate you until you buy their hat, clothes, or even jewelry. Also in Mexico, we went snorkeling under water for sight seeing, but I did not go because I didn’t bring any swimming clothes. The studying abroad is a lot of fun and I wouldn’t mind traveling a second time to experience the excitement.
