Keeping a Good Reputation on Campus
Keeping a good reputation on campus will carry me a long ways in life. A good reputation is having a positive attitude towards people, acting respectable around everybody, and setting examples for everyone. People do not realize but someone is always watching your every move and spying on you to see what kind of person you really are. I learned when I was in the Upward Bound Program at Paine College. Important people like the workers at Paine College, big business people, or even presidents of other colleges would come in and see what certain students are doing in the program. I watch my every move because I am a person who is well known in the community and I don’t want people getting on my case about my behavior or something I can control.
One aspect I watch of myself is treating everyone like I want to be treated. Treating everybody right is very important because people are watching me all the time. In addition, I am respectful, free-willing, generous, and trustworthy. If different workers on campus see something good in me, they will never forget my reputation and will speak highly of me to other people who does not know me and people who does. I watch what I say and use my home training to the best of my ability which I was raised with. When students act out and do things which is not respectable then professors, workers, or even visitors who visit the college will not talk so highly of them and will most likely avoid them.
Keeping up a good reputation on campus is a open door to success. When professors or business people see how respectable students are, they will not mind helping them, giving them connections to success, or even talking highly of them by putting in a good word for them. Students does not realize that people are looking up to them and every move that is made is evaluated and copied. For example, a student is always staying after school to study math, and he does this every day after all of his classes are done. By his actions of studying and his determination to succeed, it would make me study more just by seeing him perform it everyday. A reputation is what determines a student in college, and it lets the professor and other people know a student’s capability, and personality.
