Living in the University Village
Living in the University Village is an amazing experience. I get to experience the joy of college life and being independent. In the apartment, I live with three roommates that always keep me energetic in positive ways. They are there to help you with school work, talk, or even have fun with. In addition, there are always activities taking place to get students involved. Activities keep students from becoming bored with college life and keeping them active.
Living in the University Village requires a lot of sacrifices to stay responsible. Being responsible is very important because it comes with making the right decisions at all times. I have various responsibilities to take care of on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. For example, I have to pay my own bills, by food, and keep up the apartment, which is standard living. It is not easy living in a university apartment, but it can be managed by having self-discipline. Responsibility is an aspect that comes with college life.
Independence is the next huge part about living in the University Village. Being independent is very important because handling business myself is a valuable quality I cherish greatly. My mother and my aunt always taught me if you do not handle your own business then you are always going to encounter problems. For example, I was taught the importance of “good credit,” paying bills on time, and research different things and read because that is the key to success. I was always strict and always had the mind of keeping good credit and doing the right things such as: being on a budget, saving money, and keeping a good reputation while living on my own. I was always a person of completing accomplishments on my own, which is being independent.
