The ABCs of Parking at ASU

A stands for always try to be courteous.  Try to park between the lines and if you see someone parked slightly crooked, restrain yourself. There is no need to leave a nasty note on their car. How do you know what kind of day they are having? Perhaps this was the only parking spot available and they had to park crooked because of how the other cars were parked! Get off your self-righteous high horse and show some empathy. We are all in this parking pickle together.

B stands for be a good neighbor. Leave enough room between vehicles for people to exit and enter their vehicle. If you want a good parking spot, come early. If you have a fender bender, take responsibility for it. You want to be treated like an adult now, so act like it.

C stands for Cell Phone as in hang yours up while driving and parking on campus.  Bear with me while I vent. You know who you are….the female who backed up into my car several semesters ago near University Hall.  You did not even put your cell phone down afterwards. I had to get out of my vehicle and rap on your window. You ran your window down as if it was an imposition and then still did not get off your cell phone. Then you sped off. I turned your license plate number over to public safety and of course the vehicle was not registered with them. I called your insurance company and by the time they inspected your vehicle, you had had time to clean off all the specks of blue paint. You did not do a huge amount of monetary damage to my car but just know this; what you cast out into the world will come back to you threefold.

My unsolicited suggestion- No matter how many letters you have after your name or what staff position you hold, we ALL should vie for the available parking spots on an equal basis. If this were the case, more attention would be devoted to brainstorming solutions to the problem.
