Be a leader, not a follower!

I am so glad that I am my own person. So many people out there are more focused on keeping up with the person next to them that they loose focus of everything in life that is most important. Right now I truly believe there is an epidemic on the rise. Teenage pregnancy and young adulthood pregnancy. Every time I log onto my facebook page it seems like another person is expecting. Marriage is one thing and bringing another life into this world is another. I truly feel with all of my heart and soul that so many young girls and women are having babies because everyone else is. Why? I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that these young girls see the situation from the outside and don’t really look at the overall picture. They see people having baby showers, picking out names, shopping for the new baby, and getting all the “pregnancy” attention that comes along with being pregnant, but they don’t see what lies ahead of all of that. A child is not like a thing that has a “refund” policy with it. Once it is born you cant get your money back for it. Not only from a physical and emotional standpoint, children are expensive! You are going to be spending money on diapers, formula, clothes, medicine, and lots more stuff as they get older. As a young woman of only 21 years old I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be able to handle a child, or at least not right now. Every time another friend has a baby they always joke and tell me its my turn. I think not! There are ways out there to prevent things from occurring, but again the word is “prevent”. I just wish these young girls/women would use their minds and think before they choose a road that is never ending. When you become a parent–you are a parent for LIFE. Your children are always going to need you, even after 18 years old. So, the whole point of this blog is to speak out and tell young girls and women to lead by example. Don’t follow behind someone.

Until next time,

~Jess
